July Quarterly Day of Service

There is a lot that happens around the world that we cannot control...But when we know where the hungry, the homeless and the sick exist, then we can help. - Jan Schakowsky

This past month our Full Media team went out into our local communities for another Quarterly Day of Service. The theme this month focused on homelessness and hunger, and the organizations we worked with have a special focus on serving demographics of their communities that need shelter and food.

July Quarterly Day of Service

Our Atlanta team spent their day of service at the Atlanta Day Shelter for Women and Children. They helped prepare and serve lunch to approximately 85 people who were at the shelter that day. The Atlanta Day Shelter for Women and Children’s mission is to ease the burden of homelessness for women and children by providing comprehensive education, supportive day services and helping them regain self-sufficiency.

Team members in our Chattanooga office served at the Chattanooga Room in the Inn, where they helped paint two upstairs bedrooms that can sleep approximately five women and children. They also sanded and re-painted a baby crib that was needed in a downstairs bedroom. Since 1988, CRITI has helped to empower homeless women and children by offering a temporary home while providing programs and services that help meet their goals.

Full Media’s Gainesville team participated in a special project with the Georgia Mountain Food Bank titled, “Georgia on your mind? You’re on our mind.” They packed 60 canvas bags with fresh produce, bread and personal hygiene products, and each bag also included information on other resources available and a list of partner agencies. The team caravanned to three Gainesville housing authority developments to hand deliver to the elderly residents who live there.

Our Greenville team served at the soup kitchen that is organized through Project Host. The program provides balanced, nutritious meals each day to anyone who walks through the door.  For some, it is the only meal they will receive on any given day; for others, the meals allow them to save money for a utility bill or groceries. Our team prepared a complete meal – soup, salad, chicken pot pie and a cookie – served the meal and interacted with people and then cleaned up the room once everyone was finished.

The Quarterly Day of Service is one way Full Media lives out its mission of impacting our world positively. Special thanks to these organizations for opening their doors to us!
