Will This Float? Garners Success in Chattanooga

A month has almost come and gone since the Chattanooga start-up event Will This Float? took place, and Full Media is excited to share with you that the event was a great success.

Hosted by a local company called CO.LAB, Will This Float? is an annual event that allows local start-up companies to make their business pitch in a room full of investors, collaborators and business professionals. This year’s event drew in over 400 people to the newly renovated 4th floor of the Chattanooga Public Library and was held as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week.

From eighteen finalists, a winner emerged, and RootsRated took home the $100,000 prize for an online recreation guide that aims to assist travelers in selecting the most authentic outdoor experiences in cities across the U.S.

Throughout the event, spectators had plenty to keep them entertained including Full Media’s very own Tweet Tank that was displayed on a nearly 20-foot wall. The Tweet Tank, an aquarium projection, captured tweets made with the event-branded hashtag #wtfCHA and displayed them within a larger-than-life aquatic scene closely resembling the ground floor of the Tennessee River.

Reports indicate that Will This Float? was the best attended event held in Tennessee to honor Global Entrepreneurship Week, which is especially significant considering that Tennessee held the most events than any other state.

Ultimately, the success of Will This Float? is certainly attributed to the numerous local businesses who gave time, money and resources to support the entrepreneurial spirit in Chattanooga. Organizations such as Sound Force, Fork & Pie Bar, Chattanooga Whiskey, Pure Sodaworks, L2 Boards and Sports Barn, as well as many other creative and corporate partners, truly helped make the night one that will go down in history.
